The Great City, Slow Roads
Flagship journey · from our base
A gravel journey out of Megalopolis — the ancient “Great City” and the home of our network. Village to village, human-powered, unhurried.
- 4–5 days
- Gravel & backroads
- Megalopolis & the Alpheios valley
- Slow, fair, real
The idea
Megalopolis was built to be the greatest city of Arcadia. Today it is our base and our starting line. This journey trades the car for gravel — quiet dirt roads through the Alpheios valley toward sacred Mount Lykaion, with our partners the Megalopolis Gravel Classic. You ride at the pace of the landscape, sleep in the villages, eat what grows around you, and let the days be long.
The full route with the Megalopolis Gravel Classic is taking shape — request now to be among the first to ride it.
The rhythm
- Day 1 · Arrive & settleMeet Megalopolis on foot: the greatest ancient theatre in Greece as the light drops, and a welcome table of Arcadian produce.
- Day 2 · Into the valleyAn easy warm-up ride along the Alpheios — gravel lanes between fields and villages, and a long lunch at a kafeneio.
- Day 3 · Toward Mount LykaionThe signature ride: climbing gravel toward the sanctuary of Zeus, wide Arcadian horizons, a picnic of local cheese and bread.
- Day 4 · Slow downA rest-or-ride day — the cheese-makers, a proper Arcadian breakfast, the river, or a shorter loop if the legs want it.
- Day 5 · Easy roll & farewellA gentle final ride and time to say goodbye to the Great City.
This is a rhythm, not a timetable. We shape it around your legs, your dates and the weather.
