Mount Lykaion with the mountaintop ash altar of Zeus and its ancient hippodrome, the medieval castle of Karytaina above the Alpheios river, and the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae — Greece’s first UNESCO World Heritage site — on ancient Arcadian ground.

Indicative stages

  1. Karytaina (castle) → Lykosoura
  2. Lykosoura → Sanctuary of Zeus, Mt Lykaion
  3. Sanctuary → Figaleia
  4. Figaleia → Bassae (Temple of Apollo Epicurius, UNESCO)

Walk it with the network
